The Top 5 Reasons Yahoo Should Sell to Microsoft
Over the past couple months a very popular talk across the US has been whether Yahoo should sell to Microsoft. So I decided it would be fun to compile a list of reasons why they should. Here is the Top 5 reasons Yahoo should sell to Microsoft
#5) Relevancy
Yahoo, where the market is right now, is a pretty relevant site but, when it comes to search engines and software google has a huge upper hand. So in order for Yahoo to gain relevancy they must combine with Microsoft in an attempt to balance the playing field.
#4) Market Share
As it stands right now, Yahoo! holds about 22% or the market and Microsoft holds just about 10%. It is estimated that a combined Yahoo! and MSN would make up about 40% of the market. This is very substantial because Google currently holds almost 60% and would really cut into that dephicit.
#3) No Other Offers Likely
In all likelihood no one else will be offering Yahoo! If no one else will be offering Yahoo their only option is to hope that Microsoft keeps offering more. If Yahoo cannot get anymore money from someone else in their current situation they should just sell.
#2) Microsoft Offers Software Help
Microsoft offers huge help in the software category, an area that Yahoo has struggled in. Yahoo's messenger gets less popular every day and their ad network just isn't what google's adsense is. Microsoft can help Yahoo get themselves back on track in the software category.
#1) Yahoo is Losing Popularity
Even though Yahoo owns more overall share than both Google and MSN, their clicks continue to drop every month. Yahoo! search is gonna be dead with the pace they are on, especially when Google finally sucks the market dry of every search engine remaining.
