The Top 5 Reasons China Hurts The Us

With the current situation in China it has to make you wonder what could potentially be happening to the Us and World. I must say, the situation in Bejing is a bit ridiculous. Let them hold the olympics, it isn't going to change anything anyways. Starting the road to peace with China is the first step in the right direction anyways. This all leads to the same question though, how does China hurt the US anyways. Here is your top 5 reasons for today.

#5) Growing Military, Rampant Growth

The Chinese population is as large as anywhere else in the world, and they continue to grow more and more every year. The Chinese population grows almost 20 million people a year. Yes, that is correct, 1/15 of the US's population every year. If China continues to grow at these rates it will not be too hard for them to build up a military large enough to take over not only the US, but possibly the world. When your country is over 1/6, almost 1/5, of the population--these things tend to happen. One really big potential problem for all countries, not just the US, and little time to fix it.

#4) Allied Countries Face a Hostile Take-Over

Since the take-over of Tibet, a big question on peoples mind has been--how far will the Chinese go? With neighboring countries such as India and Malaysia, which China clearly wants Malaysia, how far can we really let the Chinese go before the US steps in? Do we let them send their military's in? Do we let them start taking over the government? Do we let them nuke them!? China shows a clear dislike of India and a great interest in Malaysia. China, after taking over Tibet, pretty much has put themselves into position to take over other countries. How far will it go before we say enough is enough?

#3) Horrible Working Areas

The people of China have horrible working areas. There is all kinds of horrible chemicals like lead and benzene. People stand on assembly lines in hot factories without proper protection to earn pennies a day. People who normally work at these factories are women and children who try to work to help support their families.

#2) Low Wages

The US cannot compete with the wages of China. Since China's wages are so low it drives down prices and the US employers are forced to pay at least the minimum wage, we (the American people) are forced to buy lead painted cheap products that doesn't help our own economy to buy. If the US wants to keep us out of recession they will either tell China to add a minimum wage or we will stop dealing with them, or we will add millions of dollars in trade tariffs to everything shipped here.

#1) No Trade Tariffs

One of the few things that bugs me about the way the government handles things (which there is a lot of things) is that we do not apply tariffs to countries that have sweatshops or "EPZ's" (Export Processing Zones) and they get by with making huge profits of cheap junk that payed their employee's nothing and does squat for our economy. A trade tariff of a several million dollars per ship would put huge pressure on China to either raise the minimum wage of their workers or pay millions up front every time they want to ship something.

Right now China is one of the largest contributing factors to how bad the US economy is. With a looming recession and the housing crisis, I think it is time we did something about it.

The Top 5 Reasons Not To Shop At Wal-Mart

I was asked earlier today why I wasn't shopping at Wal-Mart and I though it would be a cool idea to make a list. Here is how I replied...

#5) Everything Is Made In China

I do not want to offend anyone but come on. The materials they are always using are the worst quality possible. Not only this but, everything they make turns out to be covered in lead. Lead is extremely dangerous and potentially deadly.

#4) Crowded Isles

Everyone shops at Wal-Mart, everyone. This means that even in a large Wal-Mart in a pretty small city you can be crammed in an isle. I live in a town with a population of about 10,000. My city was one of the first to ever get the Supercenter with the fancy pharmacy and the grocery store. Our Walmart is huge compared to a lot of them I have seen, and when you go out there on a Friday evening you're fighting elbow to elbow to get through the place.

#3) Cheap Materials/Junk

Everything you buy from walmart that is not made in America or name brand seems to break--everything. You go to Walmart and buy a desk, if it does not break or start to crack within the year, you are in luck. Walmart is cheap for a reason!

#2) Walmart Runs All Business Away

We are not just talking the small business across the street here, we are talking companies like IGA and Save-A-Lot. Where you used to go to buy your bread, you can no longer go because it is more convienent to go to Walmart.

#1) Walmart Sues The Shanks

Walmart has filed a law suit against Debbie Shank, a former employee. The Shanks are a family that has had it extremely rough over the last several years. In 2002 Debbie Shank was in a car accident, in the accident she suffered brain damage. The Shank family sued the trucking company thats driver had hit Debbie's car. The Shank family won $450,000 that would help pay for the rest of Debbie's life. In 2005 that all changed when Walmart sued to try and retain the cash that Debbie had collected from her former employer in order to pay for her doctor bills. Walmart actually wants back more than Debbie has and should be collecting the money any day.
