The Top 5 Reasons The Xbox 360 Is Not Dead

In an article I was reading a minute ago, an Aussie news website spoke out about the Xbox360. I personally have taken a stance on the issue that is pretty much neutral, because I do like the Xbox360. I just do not necessarily believe it will win the console war. Here is the article and here is your top 5 reasons. Enjoy.

#5) Fanbase + Microsofts Determination

Microsoft has been in the console business for a little over 6 years now. During this time they have released a total of two consoles. These consoles both have had mild success. During this time Microsoft built up a very firm fan base that is as loyal as it gets. Microsoft is absolutely determined that they will make it big in the console business. When you add the fanbase together with determination you get a winning solution. Microsoft will not let their console die just like ME or Vista.

#4) Microsoft's Nearly Unlimited Funding

Microsoft is one of the worlds richest company, making billions of dollars a year. Even though Microsoft takes a loss on every console sold with the Xbox360 they do not seem to care, nor should they. They make their money back through first party games and Xbox Live. Microsoft can kick as much money into the console as they want, more than can Nintendo or Sony. Money normally equals sales, you can advertise or fix problems.

#3) Warranty

People should no longer fear when they go out to buy themselves an Xbox360, each 360 is backed with a 3 year warranty. You no longer have to worry about that 30% failure rate, one of the most important statistics for consoles. If your console decides to fry one day while playing Gears you can feel relieved knowing you have a warranty.

#2) Xbox Live

One of the most popular features for the Xbox360 is the demand for online gaming. Xbox Live offers everything you could want in an online service. You can download movies or try out a demo for the latest game. Xbox Live is probably the best feature for the entire console, with over 10 million subscribers and an estimated 5 million gold members. You can easily find someone to play.

#1) The Exclusive Titles

We could have been talking about the death of the console months ago if it wasn't for all of the great exclusives the 360 has to offer. Some of the best game franchises of all time are attached to 360 exclusively, especially Halo. Halo 3 was possibly a console saver and with Halo Wars coming out this fall you can expect at least one more year of the 360. Halo sells that many consoles.

The Top 5 Game consoles ever!

Ok so we ramble through this all the time, what is the greatest... if that's the greatest than what the hell does that make this one. So what, we have done it before, we will absolutely do it again. So I will voyage out and attempt this feat. Please note that I have not in fact played every piece of hardware ever made and that this list only reflects the views of the writer.

We will start at the top, because that is all you care about anyways right?

1) THE ATARI 2600!

I know half of you do not even remember the thing so I did the work of wikipedia-ing it. Here

Ok so your probably wondering what I am on by now, that's ok though. I was also am wondering, but I have decided it's for the best. You see, the Atari changed the world! In 1975 Atari released the Atari 2600, possibly the greatest system ever. Here is why I believe it is the greatest sytem ever.

Ok as a child when you were born into the US you were guarenteed two things in life, 1. taxes and 2. The Atari 2600. Everyone had one and a copy of pong. It was great for the games industry, as Atari made money others companies invested. As more and mroe companies got involved the larger the scale of the business and the more likely other companies would par-take. Sure the Atari 2600 didn't have the best games of all time, sure it wasn't the most long term system, and sure it wasn't the most fun to play. Without it though... we probably wouldn't have a games industry anything near what we have. That is why it is the greatest game console ever!

Here is the Rest of my top five with a brief descripition of why!

2) The Nintendo

For obvious reasons the original Nintendo comes in second place and is arguably the greatest console of all time, it had great games and was a load of fun. After ET for Atari it was looking grim in the gaming world, but then came the Nintendo which gave us hope. Please note that ET was also released for the Nintendo.

3) The Sony Playstation 2

Ok this one is a no-brainer. This was probably the easiest console to justify in position, not as important as the Nintendo or Atari 2600 but much more important than the others. Look at the statistics, this thing is shattering... no, obliterating the sales records. The console still sells as good as any other console ,except for the Wii, today.

4) The Sony Playstation

It is getting a little harder now, but this one just seemed to fit. Looking back to the times of the original Playstation there were only a few systems that had ever used CD's at launch. The graphics were above par for its time and due to little competition it succeeded.

5) The Dreamcast

This one is subject to the msot controversy since most of you have never seen one, let alone played it. Short and simple, some of the best games ever and online capability...

So thats it, let the flamming begin. The best game machine is actually the PC in my opinion, especially if you know how to modify the games!
