The Top 5 Reasons To Own GTAIV On PS3

If you are still up in the air as to which console you plan to buy for GTA I have compiled a top 5 list for you. April 29th is drawing closer and closer and many of you are still deciding which console you will buy or what console you will buy the game for(for 360 and PS3 owners). So here if your top 5 reasons to go ahead and get it for the PS3.

#5) Free Online

You probably have already been lulling over the gameplay it offers not only from a console stand-point, but a online prospective too. You will not be disappointed with the standards of the PSN. You get PSN for free and it offers good quality. So for those of you who plan to spend long hours and potentially months online, you may want to budge for the PS3 due to the costly Xbox-Live.

#4) Special Bundle

Ok so this is probably a bit overhyped, but you have to love the box. It also makes it a lot easier to grab up a copy if you live in Europe where this will surface on launch day. These are a great addition to any collection, and there will not be many people owning that particular edition.

#3) Processes

This will be a very important deciding factor, mark it down. The PS3 has the cell broadband processor which contains 8 cores (essentially 2 quad-cores), while the 360 only sports 3 cores. This is going to be a very big difference, with more processes comes less lag and less processor strain. The PS3's version of GTA will run smoother than the 360's.

#2) Graphical Capabilites

While most people disagree and make the claim that the 360 offes just as good, if not better graphics than the PS3, I still have a firm belief that the PS3 offers the superior graphical capabilities. With that being said, I also believe that you will have to wait a year or so more before you completely see the difference. I think though that GTA on the PS3 will be a step in the right direction graphics wise. Point and case, the developers making games have had a lot more time to work with the Xbox360 than they have for the PS3, try over a year. The capabilities on both sytems are still trying to be maximized though, until both are completely maxed up we will not see a clear victor. Developers for both systems have claimed that the PS3 has the better graphics capabilities, I am paraphrasing "we just learn to optimise in different ways for the PS3".

#1) Blu-Ray

This is probably the best argument the PS3 sports. Overall though, we really have a lot of unknowns with this game. For 360 owners the big questions are, will we have just 1 disc or 2,3... for PS3 owners it is "will I be getting as good of content as 360 owners", but I think the real question here will be; which game is bigger? If they are both equal then those poor 360 owners will be swapping discs halfway through town. If the downloadable content is going to be as big as supposed 'the size of san andreas' how is there any way on Earth that this game stores on one DVD. In which case the PS3 absolutely slaughters the Xbox360.

Hey guys, sorry for the slow updates... I have been working on updates for the site. I hope you all enjoyed my article. Please feel free to come post about this on my forum I will link you here.Feel free to email me if need be.

The Top5 Reasons This Is A Harsh Console War

A largely debated topic since the beginning of the conole war has been--why is there a console war at all? Well there really is a lot of hate floating around, and it is coming from all the systems. People are trolling and pointlessly arguing. I have decided to list the top 5 reasons this has been a harsh console war and will continue to be.

#5) Video Games Growing Popularity

When video games were first release we really didn't see such a divide in fans. The divide was there, just not as much. With video games ever growing popularity though, it has become almost a ritual to support one side of the fence or the other. This may be due to a mass amount of people who now play video games. If you were to throw two people in a ring who completely hated each other-- one guy likes Sony and the other guy likes Nintendo-- they probably will begin to dislike the other persons favorite company, that is just how it works. So with more people you get more hate.

#4) Different Types Of Systems

Today is a lot different with consoles, instead of just really two main companies--you have 3. If you look back to the late 80's - early 90's, the main two companies were Sega and Nintend. Then in the mid 90's - late 90's it was Nintendo and Sony, although Sega was there they were in serious decline. Then for a few years it was kind of dominance by only Sony, 2000-2002. Then we suddenly had Sony, Nintendo, and Microsoft all in a console battle, the exception here though is that Nintendo and Microsoft were playing catch-up and it never really became a contest. Now though, all three consoles were released within a year of each other roughly. This in turn has made no large gap in sales and little time to make a decisions. Now though we have the Wii which is such a different style of play which attracts different people, then we have a Xbox360 which attracts the people looking for the in-between experience with good online play, and finally we have a PS3 which offers a great high-definition experience and hardcore gameplay. When you have 3 different types of gaming you will normally get people choosing that one category and defending it, normally leading to arguments.

#3) The Internet? :O

Yes, that is right. I believe the internet has spun this console race into a war. Back when there was the NES the internet was used so little that no one could express the way they felt, and up until 10 years ago it would have been hard to find the message boards filling with information about the console war like they do today. If there is one thing that communities and forum boards do it is that they make people post their feelings. One disagreement on a forum board can lead to a never ending flame war, people 20 years ago wouldn't have the first clue as to what you were talking about if you claimed you had a flame war.

#2) Fan Boys

Today is a different type of console war, people go out of their ways to put on t-shirts or dress up as their favorite game character to show what team they are for. People are prowling forum boards telling everyone how great their console is and how bad the others are... just to show who they support. Put your frikken favorite console in your forum signature and forget posting, posting leads to flame wars and useless arguing. What does anyone else care what console you support anyways, I mean seriously--why should your opinion make anyone elses any different?

#1) Competition

The competition these consoles have brought to the table takes me back to the early 90's when Sega and Nintendo were battling it out. At this point in the console war any console still has a legitimate chance at winning the battle, all of the consoles are still fairly close. The closer the competition the more likely you are to argue over what console should win, who will lose, and what the better console is. Having said that, I think that these posts are important to the console race and that we need these kind of posts without the negative.

The Top 5 Reasons You Can Forget A Long Console War

I would just like to start off by saying thank you to all who have supported my site over the past few weeks. This will be my 50th post unofficially. Over the past few days I consistently hammered the issue of a console war, so lets continue the theme. The console so far has been somewhat of a suprise to a lot of people(including me). So I thought I would go over why I believe it will be short lived. Here is your top 5 reasons you can forget a long console war.

#5) The Wii's Faddish Nature

If there is one obvious aspect to this argument it has got to be the faddish nature of the Wii. The entire concept behind the console is a gimmick. Generally speaking though, gimmicky products normally come to an end... unless of course, we are talking about "bluetooth" which is like the biggest gimmick ever. Ok off track here. The Wii's reign will be short lived is my point here.

#4)The Xbox360 Is Already Fading

Fading-our word of the day. The Xbox360 is starting to become transparent. When you talk about big games, you think about the PS3. When you want to think about having fun you think of the Wii. When it comes to the Xbox360, what comes to mind? Probably a few images of Halo and the Xbox360 Dashboard. Sure, or so they say, the Xbox360 has a targeted fan base of the "core" gamer. In all seriousness though, it just doesn't have its "niche" publicly identified.

#3) The Xbox360's Lack Of Support

The only real area the 360 has any influence in is the US. Everywhere else except for maybe Europe, which it tends to do well there, it has struggled. One of the common known factors to a console war is that you have a good foothold in Japan. It just is not happening for the Xbox360, which is why I believe you will see a new Xbox by the end of 2009.

#2) The Wii Should Have A Short Life

The Wii was an obvious filler for Nintendo. The Wii was made with old technology and a lack of features. You cannot get a high definition experience or watch a blu-ray movie. So for obvious reasons, I believe the Wii will be out of market here in the next 2 years. Nintendo had their short term fix, which made them enough money. Now they need to get themselves back into contention.

#1) PS3's Great Potential

The PS3 is the one console that I can see lasting forever. It offers a quality High definition player and the HD experience to boot. Sony's huge fan base and great featurs mixed in with good games make it the console that can last for the next 5 or 6 years.

I will personally estimate an end to this console war by 2010. The Wii will be finding its way out of the market and a new Xbox360 will have arrived. Comments are appreciates, and you can contact me by email or drop by the forums!

The Top 5 Reasons The PS3 Will Win The Console War

The console market today is as tough as any industry there is, but it wasn't always like this. For the past several years the PS2 has been the console to trump, and before it there was the original Playstation which also dominated the market. One unclear question still remains though; will the Playstation 3 remain atop the market? Many analysts believe that this will in fact hold true, but why are they claiming this? In my personal opinion, here are the Top 5 reasons that the Playstation 3 will eventually re-take the lead in the game industries market.

#5) The Xbox360 and How It Matches Up

The Xbox360 is a great console, but it has its flaws. The Xbox360 is a very similar console to the PS3. They have similar play and they have similar specifications. The Xbox360 has an estimated 30% failure rate (Gizmodo) and this will cost Microsoft dearly. The Xbox360 is struggling to maintain its position in America, and if that isn't enough it can't even gain a foothold in Japan or Europe. The Xbox360 has failed in Japan from the beginning and it is now beginning to lose its appeal in Europe as well (VGChartz). You have to win in Japan if you plan to compete in the console business, and the Xbox360 has failed to do that so far. This is why the PS3 will inevitably beat it out.

#4) The Wii and How It Compares

The Wii is a very good system, but it has some issues. The Wii is fun and all, but I really do not think its position in the console market will stand. So far the games for the Wii have been less than stellar, that is of course unless you like Hannah Montana sing along and Barbie As Repunzel games. There have been a few games that I have liked on the other hand, these include games like "Brawl, Super Mario Galaxy, and Wii Sports" but these games eventually will find their ways to a shelf just like all others. In the near future there just doesn't seem to be any great stand-outs. The Wii also has an issue of longevity, how long can a console built with old technology last? The Wii has proven that old technology in a new case can sell, and we all know that Nintendo will milk it for what it is worth. Nintendo cannot last in a market that demands the latest and greatest in technology forever though. HD is the new thing that everyone wants, and the Wii does not have it--nor will it ever have it. As I see it Nintendo will probably be ready to ship out a new console within the next year or two. This is just another reason why Sony will prevail.

#3) Steadily Dropping Price

I know that this is probably a way over used excuse, and maybe it goes without saying. Sony was and is selling consoles with a price tag that is just unreachable for a lot of us. If they can sell a console for as much as they are selling it, imagine what it will be like when that price gets down to the $300-350 mark. If people wanted to buy a console when it was double that price, imagine how many would want to buy it at that price, the things will be going like wildfire. I will be expecting price drops probably in the June/July-ish area and they will spike console sales one more time. This is yet another reason why you can expect the PS3 to eventually take victory.

#2) Blu-Ray Is Format Of Choice

The people have spoken, and the victor is... (ok you all know this). Blu-Ray won the format war, and I believe it still hasn't completely sunk in with people yet. It is understandable though, that you would not just jump up and go spend $500 on a Blu-Ray player knowing there is a possibility that it could still lose the format war. Eventually though, when the smoke completely clears, the PS3 will begin to see the full effects of the format war. The PS3 should start to sell as good as any other console and will have the advantage of being a 2 for 1 deal; you could even just buy it for the Blu-Ray and still get a decent deal. Blu-Ray is a difference maker, just wait and see.

#1) Sony's Massive Fan Base

While there is no evidence that Sony's oh so loyal fan base is still well over a hundred million, you have to believe enough still remain that it will catch up with it (the PS3) and eventually put it over that hump. Maybe Sony understood that when they were releasing the console, and even with its very disappointing price tag it would eventually sell to those who follow Sony. Don't get me wrong though, every system has its loyal following, but I think that Sony probably has the largest fan base of them all.

I hope you enjoyed my list.

The Top 5 Reasons to Buy a PS3

I am a fan, I have to admit it. So I decided to make a list of reasons as to why someone would buy a PS3.

#5) Reliability

If you have ever owned a 360 the chances are you know what I am talking about. I was at the 360 launch only to have my console work for a little over an hour. Sony offers the best reliability there is. Through all the generations of their consoles it has always been a selling point and will continue to be.

#4) Amazing Graphics

I know you have heard 'the graphics don't make the game better'--no they dont-- they sure as heck do make the experience a lot better though. If you are looking for the HD experience of your life, you should buy a PS3.

#3) Home

The PS3 has a product called "home" which is basically a 'second life' with 'the sims' mixed in. You can play a game of pool or go to a bowling alley in this virtual universe. It is the next generation in online gaming and it is a great reason to own a PS3. *Home is currently in beta*

#2) Future Titles

I know that this is normally the number 1 reason to buy a console, but I have decided that in the case of the PS3 there is a better reason. The PS3 has games like Final Fantasy and Grand Theft Auto IV (also on 360) coming out soon, both are great well known, practiced titles that are a sure thing, and another reason to buy a PS3.

#1) Blu-Ray Player

This is an exception to the rule of buying a console for its games--in a recent post I made I gave out 5 reasons not to buy a Blu-Ray player-- the PS3 comes with a blu-ray player built in. Blu-Ray players often cost just as much as a PS3 does standing alone. Go out and spend $500 on a Blu-Ray player, spend $500 on a PS3 and virtually get the Blu-Ray player free. That is why the #1 reason for you to buy a PS3 is the Blu-Ray Player.

So that is my list, once again short, sweet, and directly to the point. Now you know the Top 5 reasons to own a PS3.
