After looking over my lists earlier today I noticed I had not added this to my list. So here is the Top 5 reasons to drop cable for satellite. *please note digital cable will not be covered*

With cable if your company has a cable go down you could potentially lose your service for days. With satellite normally if your reciever goes out it's up again pretty quickly.

Normally a cable company closes down by about 5 PM, so if you have a problem after that, you're stuck. If you go through a satellite company like DirecTv you will have 24 hr. customer service, so if your satellite goes out or you have a problem with a reciever you can call them, even at 3 AM.

Cable does not allow for parental control or favorites. The parental control is big for families with young children and just another reason to drop your cable provider. The favorites list is also another huge feature that allows you to browse only the channels you select. So if you are like me and you like a select few channels you cannot set them up on a favorites list with cable, where as you can with satellite.

Odds are that if you like sports you will love what DirecTv has to offer. You can order a package for all major sports (Nascar, NFl, NBA, MLB, NHL) and they are not completely unreasonable about their pricing.
